Nature's First Fruit

The Nature's First Fruit label and the packing house Cawston Cold Storage began in 1993 and is comprised of 28 grower-members.

One of the most popular varieties Bridges sells from Nature’s First Fruit is the organic Ambrosia apple. This variety comes from a chance seedling found in an orchard in the Similkameen Valley of British Columbia in the early 1990s. It is thought to be a cross between a Jonagold and a Golden Delicious.

Ambrosia, which means ‘food of the gods’, is known for its beautiful color - a rich yellow background splashed with a fluorescent pink to red blush. Other varieties from Nature’s First Fruit include Nicola, Spartan, Macintosh and Orin.

Cawston Cold Storage’s facility has the capacity to hold 8,400 bins of apples, with a combination of 8 smaller-sized storage rooms catering specifically to the needs of the organic market. These smaller storage rooms allow Nature’s First Fruit and Bridges much more flexibility in storing and marketing of our B.C. apples, and ensure that the apples are in optimal condition throughout the winter and early spring.

Bridges is proud to collaborate with Nature's First Fruit to bring their outstanding fruit to the United States market. Learn more at naturesfirstfruit.com.
