Rio Negro Valley — Bridges Organic Produce
Rio Negro Valley, Argentina

The centerpiece of the valley is the Rio Negro River, fed by snow melt from the Andes.

Irrigation channels along the river form a belt that cuts a verdant swath through the otherwise arid region. Plentiful water, fertile land and warm days followed by cold nights lengthen the growing season and create a prime environment for tree fruit and wine grapes to flourish and develop deep flavors.

Patagonia Organics, LLC

Working together as a team, Bridges and Patagonia are able to supply ample quantities of quality organic apples and pears during the import season from February through July.

Pear varieties from Argentina include Bartlett, Red Bartlett, Autumn Bartlett, D'Anjou, Packham and Golden Russet Bosc, along with well-known apple varieties including Gala, Cripps Pink, Red Delicious, Fuji, Braeburn and Granny Smith.

Patagonia Organics has steadily grown with the organic produce trade over the last 20 years by continually providing excellent quality, reliability, customer service and strong relationships.

They are a valuable partner because of their understanding of the dynamics of the market, as well as the challenges of organic farming, international export/import logistics and food safety regulations. Patagonia's grower partners collectively farm nearly 1000 hectares of certified apple and pear orchards. Bridges and Patagonia Organics are working together to contribute to the economic vitality of the agricultural community of the Rio Negro Valley.

Thanks to partners such as Patagonia Organics, Bridges is well-situated to help our customers build high quality, year-round, organic programs throughout the domestic and import seasons. Learn more at patagoniaorganics.com.
